A MAN has evaded a police helicopter and dog after allegedly burgling a house in Long Newington near Tetbury – wearing only one shoe.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Two males were stopped in a white panelled van on the edge of Cirencester Park at the Kennels Lodge near the Stroud Road.

One male has already been apprehended after a struggle with police officers but the other escaped across the park towards Broad Ride.

Police found a shoe nearby, thought to be from the escapee.

He was pursued by an officer, a dog and a helicopter but is yet to be found.

The man at large is described as a white male, of around 30 years, wearing a black three quarter length coat and a black hat.  

The other man has been remanded in police custody on suspicion of burglary, he is described as a 35-year-old man from the Cheltenham area.

Police are urging any witnesses to come forward, calling 101 and quoting incident number 237 of 27/3/2015.
