DRUG-driving laws are changing, Gloucestershire Road Police are warning.
From March 2015 you will not be legal to drive if you are “unfit” to do so because you are on legal or illegal drugs, or if you have certain types of drugs in your body regardless of their effect on your driving.
When taking legal drugs or prescription you should talk to your doctor or pharmacist about whether it is safe to drive while taking them.
If police think you are unfit to drive because of drugs, even prescriptions, you will be arrested and will have to take a blood or urine test.
Gloucestershire Road Police are urging anyone taking the following drugs to check with their doctor: clonazepam, diazepam, flunitrazepam, lorazepam, methadone, morphine or opiate and opioid-based drugs, oxazepam or temazepam.
