POLICE have advised South Cerney residents to be on their guard following break-ins in the village.

On Monday January 26, between 7.30pm and 8pm, thieves forced open a locked back gate of a home in Meadow Way, then forcefully removed a UPVC panel on the rear door of the house to gain entry to it.

Thieves did not steal anything and then left the house through the same door using a key kept next to the door.

In another incident, which occurred between Sunday, January 25 and Tuesday, January 27, thieves entered a shed at a house in Langet after breaking its lock, but stole nothing.

A spokesman for Gloucestershire police said: “Please ensure your sheds and outbuildings are locked and secured and garden gates are also secured. If you see any vehicle or person acting suspiciously then please phone the police directly on 101. If you believe a crime is taking place, phone 999 without delay.”

If you have any information regarding the break-ins then call police on 101, quoting incident number 295 if it is in relation to the Langet incident and 393 for the Meadow Way, break-in.
