THE Government is extending its flood relief schemes to cover properties flooded during the time period from April 1 2013 to March 31 2014.

The schemes, that were set up to help businesses and householders, were previously only open to people whose properties were flooded between December 1 2013 and March 31 2014.

Cllr Sue Coakley, Cabinet Member for the Environment at Cotswold District Council said: “We welcome the additional support from the government. Flooding places a huge financial and emotional strain on those affected, and the extension of the time frame for support will help more people who were previously not eligible.”

The schemes being extended are: • Council Tax relief for residents whose homes were flooded.

• Business Rates relief for businesses whose premises were flooded.

• Repair and Renew - a grant of up to £5,000 for householders or businesses to install property protection measures that will reduce or minimise the risk of future flooding.

• Business Support - a hardship fund for businesses affected by the floods.

Businesses and householders that consider they may qualify for flood relief should telephone 01285 623000 or email floodgrant@cotswold.gov.uk.

The Council will then advise applicants about the outcome of their applications. Please note that all submissions must be received by 27 February 2015.
