JASON Daniels has appeared in court today accused of attacking four people in a Cirencester bar.

It is alleged that, while intoxicated, Mr Daniels assaulted three women in the Mad Hatter Wine Bar and attacked a man with a chair while he was on the floor, the court heard.

Mr Daniels, of Querns Road in Cirencester, is accused of assaulting Mustapha Bello, causing him actual bodily harm at the bar in Castle Street.

The 43-year-old is also accused of assaulting Lucy Watson, and committing common assaults on Gemma Prewitt and Vikki Taylor.

The defendant appeared at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court, but did not enter any pleas to the charges which relate to an incident on September 6.

Prosecutor Heidi Price recommended that the case be referred to the Crown Court due to the seriousness of the charges.

Helen Smith, representing Mr Daniels, said he disputes the allegations and agreed that his case would be better dealt with at Gloucester Crown Court.

Ms Watson is not supporting the charges against Mr Daniels and refused to provide a witness statement, the court heard.

Elizabeth Teague, chairman of the magistrates, bailed Mr Daniels on the condition that he does not enter the Mad Hatter Wine Bar and does not contact Mr Bello, Mrs Prewitt and Mrs Taylor.

His case will next be heard at the crown court on January 23.
