YOUNGSTERS have been making up boxes of goodies for underprivileged children around the world.
Children from Swell C and E Primary School and Malmesbury School have filled shoeboxes with treats such as chocolate, toys and clothes for the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Appeal. Swell pupils filled up 20 boxes while Malmesbury School pupils filled up 226.
Judy Morgan, an administrator at Swell Primary, said: “This is a very worthwhile charity. As a small rural primary school we are all very proud to support it.”
Operation Christmas Child is the world’s largest children’s Christmas project, run by the Christian relief and development organisation Samaritan’s Purse.
Since 1990, more than 113 million boys and girls in more than 130 countries have received shoeboxes. Teams of volunteers are employed each year to ensure shoeboxes reach the children.
