TOP entrepreneurs from across the country will be teaming up with Cirencester College students for one day to discuss new innovative ideas to benefit the future of the town.

Mitsubishi Motors, with its headquarters in Cirencester, will play host to the town's first ever Business Forum this October. The forum will see current CEO's and budding entrepreneurs discussing ways to make the town a better place to do business.

Company directors attending the forum include chief executive of the National Star Foundation David Ellis, CEO of Cirencester-based May Media, Simon May and former vice president of Philips America, Barry Dennington.

They will be discussing principles such as security, crime and prevention and health and independent living, with the economic students at Cirencester College.

The day has been set up prior to the plan to bring an Innovation Hub to the town, to support enterprise for all businesses new and old.

Economics teacher at Cirencester College Hannah Clark said it is her students that will be looking to impress on the day.

"The Innovation Hub gives them a valuable and exciting opportunity," she said. "20 of our aspirational and entrepreneurial students have been selected to take part and benefit from this unique experience."

The forum was suggested by Community Development Trust member Des Coates and the college was delighted to be involved.

"It is important for our students that they are involved in this tremendous project as they are the next generation of business owners and innovators. Where else can a 17-year-old meet and spend time discussing business ideas with CEO's of major companies?" Hannah added.

Des Coates, along with other Trust members, completed a study to look at innovation and enterprise facilities around the country and worked out that Cirencester would benefit from an Innovation Hub.

“One of the key challenges for the Trust is to make Cirencester a better place to do business," said Des. “The purpose of an innovation and enterprise centre is to create a facility where fledgling businesses can grow."

The virtual hub will take place at Mitsubishi Motors in Cirencester on October 8 from 12-4pm.
