VOLUNTEERS at the Cotswold Water Park Trust have been thanked in person for their hard work by the chairman of the charity which runs the facilities.
On Monday, September 15, ten of the 14 volunteers who help regularly with visitor enquiries at the Gateway Visitor Centre came along to a coffee morning at the Gateway Centre.
Chairman Sir David John was there to greet them and tell them how vital their role was through the school holidays in providing information and advice to more than 2,000 people.
Peter Jay, a volunteer at the centre, said: “We really enjoy talking to people and helping them to make the most of their visit to the area, whether it’s for a short walk or a week’s holiday.
“We get to meet some really lovely people too.”
The volunteers all live nearby and cover every day of the school summer holidays on the information desk, along with every weekend throughout the year.
Volunteers duties include giving directions, and providing information about wildlife and nearby attractions.
