PERMISSION is being sought to demolish the old cricket pavilion in Coln St Aldwyns and to build a new one.
The pavilion currently standing in Williamstrip Park is within the Hatherop Conservation Area and requires planning permission to be altered.
Proposed in July, new design is to be more in keeping with the area’s character and will entirely replace the older building.
The new structure is already being built using natural materials and will be constructed on wooden sleepers rather than foundations to prevent the need for digging.
Facilities in the new pavilion will include two changing rooms with toilet facilities, an outside veranda and an indoor tea room.
The informal parking arrangement which served the previous building will need to be updated when the new pavilion is complete but no resurfacing is planned to take place.
Any comments on the application should be submitted to Cotswold District Council by September 11.
