A PLAN has been submitted for the design of 55 new houses in Siddington, which previously split local opinion on the need for development.

Although the project will provide 27 new affordable houses some residents are concerned about the increased volume of traffic and potential problems with sewers that could result from more residents using the same system.

The site is on a patch of land west of Siddington, opposite Cherry Tree Drive and to the side of North Hill Road and will require landscaping as well as construction work.

The site’s 55 houses will bring a total of 117 parking spaces, of which 83 will be allocated to houses, 26 will be garages and eight will be for visitors.

As well as the houses the development aims to add an orchard, a wildlife pond and a wooded area to the south of the site.

Siddington Parish Council has previously discussed the proposal and will be meeting to discuss the plans in the coming weeks.

The plans were submitted in late June and residents who wish to comment on any element of the design or layout are asked to do so by Thursday, August 7.
