A WOMAN who was found dead in the River Coln at Bibury after attending a wedding in the village has been named as Helen Lesley Jones.
The 49-year-old, of Bullfinch Close in Swindon, was discovered in the river opposite Bibury Village Hall by a dog walker at around 7am on Sunday, April 13.
She had been staying at the nearby Swan Hotel for a wedding that was held at the venue the previous day.
A spokesman for Gloucestershire Coroner’s Court confirmed that the woman had drowned.
Bibury resident Phil Clough, 57, who found the body told the Standard that a number of the woman’s personal belongings including her shoes, bag and cigarette lighter had been left on the riverside.
The coroner has opened and adjourned the inquest while investigations are carried
A provisional inquest date of Friday, October 17 has been set.
