SCORES of talented students from Cirencester College were recognised for their hard work at an award ceremony last week.

The college’s Annual Awards Ceremony, which is now in its 22nd year, saw more than 80 students walk away with awards celebrating achievement in subject areas as diverse and varies as creative art and anthropology.

Special recognition was given to Jonas Pollard who won the Wilts and Glos Standard Prize for Successful Application of Communication Skills.

He was singled out after setting up a Facebook help-group that offered his peers advice on how they can meet their work deadlines.

The night’s guest of honour, Oli Christie, chief executive of Cirencester-based Neon Play, gave students a motivational talk on how to get noticed in the future.

Kim Clifford, principal of Cirencester College, said the college is dedicated to preparing its students for higher education.

“We specialise in bridging the gap between school and university and equipping our students with the tools to succeed in their future careers,” she said.

The ceremony, which was held on Saturday, April 5, coincided with the news that 76 per cent of Cirencester College students leave university with a first or upper second class honours degree.
