Cirencester College team Swapplications crowned Outstanding Entrepreneurs of the Year
A YOUNG team of Cirencester College students were overwhelmed to be crowned Outstanding Entrepreneurs of the Year.
The team of four business students aged 17 and 18, who developed an app for college education called ‘Swapplications’, added another award to their impressive run when they were named Outstanding Entrepreneurs of the Year at the Grow Gloucestershire Showcase Awards last week.
The team are Mohammad Karim, Hannah Clinch, James Weller and Jay O’Connor.
The awards, run by Gloucestershire County Council and held at Cheltenham Racecourse, were an opportunity to celebrate young enterprise in the area and local employers were asked to nominate young people aged 14-24 who have made a contribution to business and their career. The ceremony was also a chance to network with influential members of the community.
After collecting the award, Hannah Clinch said: “I am so happy that we have been recognised for our hard work this year. The app is a fantastic product and will make a big difference to the education of young people.”
Swapplications has enjoyed a year of success. The team was runner-up in the Young Entrepreneurs category at the Cirencester Chamber of Commerce awards in May and went on to win Best Production for their app in the National Young Enterprise finals.
College business lecturer Hannah Clark said: “We are always looking to promote enterprise and develop these skills in our students.”
