Cirencester Chamber of Commerce envisions a bright future if more members would join
A BUSINESS group in Cirencester has visions of a bright and successful future if they could see more members getting involved.
Newly appointed president of Cirencester Chamber of Commerce Anthony Flynn has said he would love to see more members join the chamber and promises ‘dynamic’ meetings in upbeat venues.
“We recently had our monthly meeting at Kemble Airport which was great,” said Anthony. “We received a tour of the airport and were supplied with cake and refreshments.
“I’d love to organise more meetings like that but they take so much planning and we need more people to help. I was even thinking of having a meeting at a local ice cream parlour.”
The Cirencester Chamber of Commerce works closely with local businesses, looking to promote, assist and engage with them.
The chamber currently has 80 members but only sees around 30 attend the regular meetings. The committee itself contains only seven members but has the ability to hold 14.
“We’ve got all these ideas but not enough people,” continued Anthony. “We need fresh thinking and new members. We need our current members to feel encouraged to come back too.”
Anthony said that anyone wishing to join the chamber must have a business connection but not necessarily their own business, plus a good amount of enthusiasm, an open mind and a giving mentality.
The chamber meet monthly at Ingleside House in Cirencester but members are looking to branch further out to other venues.
