Keith Chegwin to turn on Cirencester's Christmas lights
TELLY favourite Keith Chegwin has been given the honour of flicking the switch on this year’s Christmas lights in Cirencester.
The funnyman, best known for his infectious giggle and catchphrase "wey-hey", will take time out of his busy festive schedule to appear in the town on Saturday, November 30.
Keith said: "I can't wait. I love Cirencester and have been there loads of times. One of my favourite gigs was for a bunch of Hell's Angels at the Corn Hall and we filmed Saturday Swapshop in Cirencester back in the 80s.
"I do want to know whether the audience in Cirencester will be louder than Swindon where I'm doing panto."
The switching on of the town’s lights will mark the start of the Christmas celebrations in Cirencester with a carol concert being held at the Parish Church of St John Baptist the following day on Sunday, December 1.
Keith Chegwin is no stranger to the Cotswold town having been invited to compere last year’s spectacular Bonfire Night firework display.
Further details of the switching on of the Christmas lights will be revealed closer to the date.
