THE remainder of the body whose head was discovered in the River Coln in Fairford has been discovered.

Farmor's School pupils Christian Thompson and Robbie Cribley discovered a skull in the river on Sunday as they paddled a dinghy along the river.

After the story featured in this week's Standard, the pair found themselves at the centre of attention, with the story being picked up by national media.

And as the pair were being filmed by a news team from BBC Points West at 2.45pm today, the boys discovered the rest of the body.

Christian's mum Marie said: "The BBC Points West crew were filming the boys and asked them to re-enact the moment they found the skull but just without the dingy.

"The boys started looking for crayfish so they actually looked like they were searching for something and Christian thought he'd found one, but instead picked up the neck of the body. He called to Robbie to come and have a look.

"The body was almost in exactly the same place as the skull was.

"I can't believe that all this happened while they were being filmed. It's so bizarre."

After discovering the skull on Sunday, the boys had told their parents and police were called.

Marie said she was surprised the rest of the body had not turned up then.

She added: "I can't believe the police and the forensics didn't find it when they were there to see the skull."
