A WOMAN is in custody, charged with stealing jewellery from two houses where she worked as a cleaner.

A police spokesman said a South Cerney resident called police in February to report they suspected their new cleaner had stolen jewellery from the house.

On Thursday, April 11 a 36-year-old woman from the Beeches area of Cirencester was arrested and charged with theft.

She was released on bail but was re-arrested two days later after a Poole Keynes resident told police that jewellery had gone missing after they employed the woman as a cleaner.

At a bail hearing the woman was refused bail and is now in custody.

She is due to appear before Cheltenham magistrates on Friday, May 10 in respect of the first charge and on Thursday, May 25 for the second.
