POLICE want to speak to the victim of a sexual assault which took place as she got into a taxi in Cirencester.

It is believed that the woman was assaulted as she climbed into a taxi on Cricklade Street, near to Clinton Cards and Phones4U, between 2.30am and 2.45am on Sunday February 10.

Police spoke to the alleged attacker after spotting the incident on CCTV and found he was already wanted on suspicion of spitting at a bus driver in Gloucester in October last year.

He was searched and arrested for possession of an offensive weapon after he was found to have a knife on him.

He was taken to Cheltenham Police Station where he was interviewed and released on bail.

The alleged attacker has been described as white, between 50 and 60 years old and around 5ft8ins tall.

He has short, cropped ginger hair and a grey handlebar moustache.

He has a black right eye and was wearing a black jacket, tan suede waistcoat, black silky shirt, dark blue jeans and black boots.

He has a star tattoo on his right and left earlobes and was wearing large gold rings.

Police are appealing for the victim and anyone who may have come into contact with the man on the night to come forward.
