Voters to choose new Stratton-Whiteway ward representative for Cirencester Town Council
2:00pm Wednesday 2nd January 2013 in Cotswolds news By Laura Shack
VOTERS will get the chance to elect a new Cirencester town councillor next week.
On Thursday, January 10, three candidates will do battle in the by election for a seat on the Stratton-Whiteway ward.
In the mix is Lib Dem candidate and former Cirencester Chamber of Commerce president Mark Harris, Green Party representative Robert Irving, and Robert Stephens who is standing for UKIP.
Neither the Tory or Labour parties have put forward a candidate.
The seat became available in October last year when Siobhan Brasier resigned due to university studies in Cardiff.
Siobhan was elected unopposed in April 2011 and – at the age of 18 and four months – was the youngest town councillor to have been elected in Cirencester’s history.
Votes can be made at Stratton Village Hall or Cirencester Rugby Club. For more information, contact Cirencester Town Council on 01285 655646.

Where are the Independents and Labour? That is the question that should be asked, and the reason is the Town Council is so dominated by one party that opposition is futile.
All the decisions are made a 7 Oark Street so why bother with the wondow dressing that is CTC meetings?
Congratulations again Mark, see you at the post election party? Where is it? I haven't recieved an invitation.

A machine which exists solely to fight elections has stalled and will continue to stall until the Cotswold Conservatives resolve that internal dilemma regarding the damage associated with the CDC Tory Cabinet cabal having done shady business with a jailed fraudster in the Water Park. It's unethical and everyone knows it. It may be worse....time will tell.
If you don't play in an election you can never win and you won't find candidates if you don't clean out your own stables.Your problem.
I suspect the merryband of LibDems at 14 Park Street are more than happy.
The retail shop at 7 Park Street won't be giving a fig.
