A SNIFFER dog hunted down two suspected thieves who were hiding in undergrowth at a quarry in Shorncote.

Police were called to the quarry at around 10pm on Thursday, November 1, after a member of the public suspected the men were siphoning diesel from vehicles.

A black Suzuki car was found near to the quarry with siphoning equipment inside.

Shortly after a sniffer dog hunted down a 29-year-old man and a 38-year-old man from Swindon who were hiding in bushes nearby.

They were arrested on suspicion of theft.

Forensic investigations are underway to link the men to the car.
