Decision over Stow care home Ashton House due tomorrow

THE future of a former care home in Stow-on-the-Wold is to be decided tomorrow.

Gloucestershire County Council decided to put Ashton House, the town’s only non-private care home, on the market earlier this year, prompting an outcry from residents.

Speaking at last week’s meeting of Stow-on-the-Wold Town Council, GCC Cllr David Thorpe said the council had received 13 bids for the site.

He added the bids were due to be discussed by the council’s cabinet on Wednesday, and officers were set to recommend an application which included a new doctor’s surgery be approved.

Cllr Thorpe added the deadline for the future arrangements for the site to be in place was the end of March when the Gloucestershire Primary Care Trust is disbanded.
