A FOOTBALL match in memory of a Cirencester girl who died of Meningitis raised £700.

Jane Brookes has been running a series of fundraising events throughout the year to raise money for the Meningitis Trust in memory of her daughter Loren, who died 11 years ago aged 11.

The most recent event – a charity football match at South Cerney Football Club – saw players of all ages strap on their boots on a chilly Sunday morning to raise money for the charity.

Although Jane had originally hoped to raise £1,100 - £100 for each year of her daughter’s life – she has so far raised £3,500, with donations still rolling in.

The next event is a bingo night at the Golden Farm Pub at 7pm on Saturday November 3.
