Severe weather warning issued for South West
7:12pm Thursday 11th October 2012 in News By Liz Day
A SEVERE weather warning issued by the Met Office has warned that the South West of England could experience 15mm of rainfall in an hour before the end of the day.
The warning, which was issued 5.22pm, predicts heavy rain will continue to affect western and central England, as well as parts of Wales. It is predicted up to 40mm of rain may fall in some areas before midnight.
The Met Office also warned of localised flooding and disruption to travel, as the ground is already saturated by recent rainfall.
The Environment Agency has issued 24 flood alerts and seven flood warnings for the South West, but none affect Wiltshire or Gloucestershire.
