Lechlade man suffers serious head injury in restaurant fight

A LECHLADE man has been arrested for reportedly assaulting another man and causing him a serious head injury in a fight at a restaurant.

The suspected assault took place at the Riverside Restaurant at Park End Wharf between 6.35pm and 6.40pm on Sunday, September 9.

A man was involved in an argument with another man before he went outside and was involved in a physical altercation with the same man that resulted in him suffering a serious head injury.

The 25-year-old man is currently being treated at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon.

A 44-year-old man from Lechlade has been arrested on suspicion of assault in connection with the incident and has been bailed to attend Cheltenham police station on November 27, pending further inquiries.

Officers are urging anyone who witnessed either incident to call 101, quoting incident 412 of September 9.
