VOLUNTEERS are being called for to join an organisation working to improve access for disabled people across the Cotswolds.
The Cirencester and South Cotswold Access Group has worked for more than 20 years to improve access throughout the area as well as at attractions including the National Arboretum at Westonbirt and Chedworth Roman Villa.
Group chairman Doris Land said the group had worked with a number of organisations such as Cotswold District Council and Gloucestershire County Council’s highways department, but would benefit from a wider range of members.
“We are all getting older and we really could do with more people coming in,” she said.
“We’d really like to get some mothers with buggies involved because the kinds of issues that affect disabled people such as dropped curbs and steps into buildings affect them as well.
“They’re redesigning the centre of Cirencester at the moment and there are a number of ideas we have about this. “We try to put the world to rights as best as we can.”
Doris added anyone, able-bodied or disabled, is welcome to get involved and come along to any of the group’s meetings, which are held every six weeks.
The next meeting will be held from 2pm to 4pm on Monday November 5 at St Lawrence’s Church, Countess Lilias Road, Cirencester.
To get involved or for more information call Doris on 01285 641 413.
