A CAMPAIGNING Cotswold district councillor has called for a footpath to be built on one of the busiest roads out of South Cerney.
Cllr Juliet Layton (Lib Dem, Water Park) is calling for a footpath to be installed at Broadway Lane, one of the main routes out of the village to Cotswold Water Park.
She said she had been concerned about safety for walkers and cyclists in the area for some time, and felt it was now time to do something about it.
“We’ve got more houses to be built and there’s now recycling lorries going up and down there,” she said.
“They’re mixing with cyclists and pedestrians and it’s really not safe.
“All there is is a grass verge and the lorries come very close to it.”
Cllr Layton said she was due to meet with Gloucestershire County County’s highways and footpaths departments, along with businesses in the area to try and rally support.
