A CIRENCESTER pub which was set to close at the end of this month has been given a brief stay of execution.

The Bear Inn on Dyer Street was set to close on Sunday September 30 after Cardiff-based brewery S.A. Brains decided to take back the lease and revamp the venue.

However, Brains, along with leaseholder Moles Brewery, has since decided to keep the pub open for another month while planning permission is sought to revamp the building.

All the staff currently working at the pub have been invited to re-apply for their jobs in the revamped venue.
