Van driver killed in head-on crash with lorry is named

A GLOUCESTERSHIRE man who died after a head-on crash near Northleach has been named as Ian Butler.

The 49-year-old man of Gloucester Road, Longhope, was killed when his blue Peugeot van crashed with a heavy goods vehicle on the A40 near to Windrush on Wednesday, September 19.

An air ambulance was scrambled to the scene but Mr Butler had already died by the time emergency services arrived.

The HGV driver survived with minor injuries and shock.

An inquest was opened and adjourned by Gloucestershire Coroner’s Court yesterday for further investigations to be carried out.

Police investigations are ongoing. Anyone with information should contact Gloucestershire Police on 101.
