Call for Cotswold Water Park volunteers

A CALL for volunteers has been made for projects in the Cotswold Water Park.

The Cotswold Water Park Trust already runs Sunday volunteer sessions and is now offering the chance to carry out project work across the water park’s varied habitats on Wednesdays.

Tasks will range from managing wildlife habitats to litter picking and eradicating non-native plants. Specialist knowledge is unnecessary and training, equipment and tools are provided.

Anyone aged over 18 of a reasonable level of fitness can take part.

The days will run from 10am until 3pm, with a break for drinks and packed lunch starting this Wednesday, September 26, and meeting monthly until July.

Phillipa Sheldrake, CWPT ‘s head of estates, said: “ At this time of year we start the mammoth task of trying to keep up with the habitat management on all our reserves, so our first task will be coppicing willow and having a good bonfire, which is good fun, hard work but always rewarding.”
