Delays expected during rush hour following fatal collision on A40
4:30pm Wednesday 19th September 2012 in News By Laura Shack
TRAFFIC delays are expected in the Northleach area following a fatal crash on the A40 today.
A man, believed to be in his 40s, died after his blue van crashed with a lorry on the A40 near Windrush at around 12.05pm this afternoon.
The A40 has been closed off in both directions between Northleach and Burford while an investigation is carried out.
It is unknown how long the road closure will last but diversions through surrounding villages are in place and delays are expected.
Emergency services and an air ambulance were scrambled to help the van driver after the crash, but he died at the scene.
The male lorry driver was taken to Cheltenham General Hospital with minor injuries and shock.
It is unclear how the crash happened. It was reported that the vehicles were heading in different directions along the road and the lorry, which was travelling towards Northleach, was found to have partly swerved into a field after the collision.
Investigations are ongoing.
