5:00pm Tuesday 18th September 2012 in News
GLOUCESTERSHIRE'S Olympic and Paralympic heroes have been thanked for helping to inspire people to get fit.
Chairman of Gloucestershire County Council Cllr Tony Hicks said: “All of the county’s Olympians and Paralympians have done Gloucestershire, and the nation, proud.
"Their achievements should stand alone in motivating every single person in the county to be fit, healthy and dedicated to their own ambitions.
“We expect the legacy of our athletes’ efforts to reach far beyond this summer, inspiring generations to change their attitudes to health and wellbeing for many years to come.”
The county’s sporting heroes include Charlotte Dujardin, Carl Hester, Laura Bechtolsheimer, Pete Reed, Zara Phillips, Zac Purchase, Ashleigh Ball, Ed Clancy, Louise Bond-Williams, Alex Gregory, Vicky Holland, Natasha Page, Hayley Palmer, Rob Parker, Beth Rodford, James Brown and Mel Nicholls.
