Delays likely between RAF Lyneham and M4 tomorrow
10:41am Friday 14th September 2012 in News By Ian Craig
DRIVERS are warned of possible delays between RAF Lyneham and junction 16 of the M4 tomorrow.
Four specialised load transporters loaded with sections of a Dakota aircraft will be travelling from RAF Lyneham to RAF Brize Norton from 6.30am tomorrow morning.
The loads, which will be escorted by Wiltshire police, will travel in convoy along the A3102 into Royal Wootton Basset and onto the M4 eastbound at junction 16.
Due to their size, the loads will have to travel along the opposite side of the High Street in Royal Wootton Bassett, which will cause a short delay for motorists.
Wiltshire police said the transporters will be slow moving and there is the potential for congestion.
Where possible disruption will be kept to a minimum but police are asking motorists to be patient if they come across the loads.
