Cirencester pilot may have survived crash if he had tried to eject from plane

A CIRENCESTER flying instructor who died when the plane in whcih he was giving a lesson in formation flying crashed into a lake may have survived if he had parachuted to safety.

Flt Lt Simon Hulme, a 33-year-old  RAF instructor, and his student  Spencer Bennett, 43, were killed when their light plane crashed at Maldon, Essex, in April 2011.

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) said the plane crashed after going into a spin.
