Cow put down after being hit by car on Minchinhampton Common

A YOUNG cow had to be put down after being hit by a car on Minchinhampton Common over the weekend.

Mark Dawkins, who is responsible for patrolling the Minchinhampton Common area as the area’s ‘Hayward’, said the male Aberdeen Angus had been found with a broken leg at the side of the common on Sunday (September 9) morning.

He said the six-month-old steer had clearly been hit by a car, and had to be put down.

Gloucestershire police said on Monday no-one had contacted them to report hitting a cow on the common on Saturday night.
