UPDATE: Woman dies in tractor tragedy near Cirencester

A WOMAN has died on her journey home from a country show after a vintage tractor she was driving overturned near Cirencester.

The 75-year-old woman, from Cranham, died from multiple injuries after her tractor turned on its side on Daneway Hill, Sapperton, at around 3.10pm on Saturday, September 8.

The 1967 red and grey Massey Ferguson 135 tractor had been involved in a vintage tractor gathering in the area and had been leaving the event when it clipped a grass verge and overturned.

A number of onlookers called emergency services and are believed to have attempted to resuscitate the woman, who was unconscious and was not breathing.

A Great Western Air Ambulance, a rapid response vehicle, paramedic and an ambulance were scrambled to the scene, but the woman had already died from the traumatic injuries sustained.

The road was closed for around five hours whilst collision investigation officers carried out their work.

Anyone with any information about the collision, that has not yet spoken to officers, is asked to contact Gloucestershire Police on 101, quoting incident number 286 of September 8.
