FIREFIGHTERS and paramedics worked together to rescue a lorry driver who had been taken ill with a life-threatening condition in Cirencester last night.
Great Western Ambulance Service were called to the lorry parked in the transport yard on Driffied Road, Cirencester, after a lorry driver was taken ill at around 11.45pm last night.
A paramedic and a rapid response vehicle were called to the scene, but were unable to retrieve the man, thought to be in his 50s, from the cab.
Firefighters from Gloucestershire Fire and Resuce Service were called to the scene and were able to use a platform and specialist stretchers to remove the man from the cab.
He was then taken to Great Western Hospital, Swindon, for treatment. His condition is unknown.
