Gang jailed for Chippenham robbery
4:22pm Tuesday 21st August 2012 in News
THREE men have been jailed for a total of 27 years for a series of robberies across England and Wales, including one in Chippenham.
The gang members from Merseyside and Cheshire, who targeted security guards, were arrested after police used automatic number plate recognition to link crimes in Gwent, Worcester, Bristol, Leominster and Chippenham in 2010.
In the Wiltshire incident a Ford Focus was driven through the glass doors of the Halifax branch and cash being delivered for an ATM was taken.
At Worcester Crown Court today, Christopher Scully, 44, of Palacefields, Runcorn, was sentenced to nine and a half years, Wesley Owens, 32, of St Helens, was given nine years and Kevin McLoughlin, 32, from Liverpool, was handed eight and a half years. All admitted conspiracy to rob.
