Man arrested by police investigating suspected hit and run death of Max Hartshorne

A MALMESBURY man has been arrested by police investigating the death of Max Hartshorne in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The 24-year-old, who has yet to be formally identified, suffered fatal injuries as he walked on the B4696, Spine Road East, at South Cerney at around 12.30am on Sunday morning (August 19).

The incident happened close to the cross roads with Broadway Lane and Wickwater Lane.

A BMW which is believed to have struck the victim collided with a tree a short distance away. The occupants of the BMW were taken to hospital in Swindon before being discharged later that day.

This morning police arrested a 50-year-old man from Malmesbury on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He has since been bailed to return to the police station on October 2. Gloucestershire Police want to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact them on 101 quoting incident 27 of August 19.
