A FIFTEEN-YEAR battle to build a skate park in Moreton-in-Marsh has finally come to an end.

Youngsters at the ‘skatepark jam’ – the official opening of the skate park on Saturday August 4 – enjoyed live music, demonstrations by professional skaters and a professional MC.

The new facilities have proved a hit with bikers and boarders, with crowds turning out every day to show off their skills.

Moreton Town Council had been fighting for years to get the plans approved, and were finally successful last year.

The £65,000 skatepark has been built on the former site of the Moreton Rangers Football Club on London Road, which had to be demolished last year after a spate of vandalism.
