A YOUNG cycling newcomer is joining the likes of Olympic gold medalist James Cracknell in a charity bike ride.

Jamie Foulkes, 20, from Meysey Hampton is gearing up for a 960-mile journey from Land’s End to John O’Groats in aid of Help for Heroes which will average out at 120 miles a day for nine days.

"With so many casualties returning from the Middle East, I feel not enough is being done to support them," Jamie said.

The sporty student will pedal off from Land’s End on September 8 with 700 other cyclists as part of the Deloitte Ride Across Britain challenge.

Jamie said added he could be shoulder to shoulder with some familiar faces as several sporting stars were set to take part, including rugby player Lewis Moody and double Olympic gold medalist James Cracknell.
