Moreton-in-Marsh community action group to be set up

COMMUNITY-MINDED residents in Moreton-in-Marsh are setting up an action group to deal with problems such as litter.

At this month's meeting of the Town Council, Cllr Alison Coggins said she had been speaking to a number of residents who were interested in volunteering for tasks such as litter picking.

“The people I’ve spoken to are quite interested in doing services for the community,” she said.

“It’s purely a volunteer exercise and I would quite like this to be as self funding as possible, but if things like bin bags could be provided by the council that would be great.

“Action is the most important thing here, rather than sitting around and talking about doing things.”

Town Council chairman Cllr Colin Hancox said he supported the initiative.

“It sounds like a good idea – keeping the place tidier and safer,” he said.
