One week until Archbishop visit
5:00pm Friday 13th July 2012 in News By Ian Craig
CIRENCESTER is gearing up for a visit from the Archbishop of Canterbury next week.
Dr Rowan Williams will be visiting Cirencester on Friday July 20 as part of his final year in the role. The Archbishop is expected to arrive at Cirencester Parish Church at 11am, where he will be welcomed by the Bishop of Gloucester and vicar Father Leonard Doolan, along with children from Powell’s School.
He will then visit the church coffee shop on Dollar Street for refreshments before meeting members the Fresh Expressions group, a church organisation supporting vulnerable people, before leaving for Cheltenham, at around 1.15pm.
Father Leonard Doolan said he hoped as many residents as possible would turn out to welcome the Archbishop.
“This particular service is very informal,” he said.
“He has been an outstanding Archbishop so I hope people will come along.”
The Standard will be interviewing the Archbishop on July 21, and are still asking for your questions.
Please submit any questions to wgsnews@wiltsglosstandard.co.uk, including your name, age and contact details.
We will put the best questions to the Archbishop and print the answers.
