Stow antiques dealer wins national award
5:00pm Friday 29th June 2012 in News By Ian Craig
AN ANTIQUES dealer in Stow-on-the-Wold has been named as one of the best in the country.
Christopher Clarke Antiques won the coveted accolade of Best Specialist Shop in the Britain’s Best Antiques Shops 2012 Awards, run by Home and Antiques magazine.
This is not the only award the dealers have won recently, as a historic travelling trunk from the Battle of Waterloo held by the antiques house has been named Object of the Year the association of art and antiques dealers, LAPADA.
The trunk is engraved with the name plaque ‘Capt. Blackwood 69th Regt.’, and is thought to have belonged to an army captain who died at Waterloo in 1815.
