A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of indecent exposure following a number of incidents on a canal path in Stroud.

As part of their investigation into six incidents of indecent exposure in the area between April and June, Gloucestershire Police appealed to the public urging residents to report incidents or any suspicious activity in the area.

Following this appeal a number of people came forward offering information which has assisted with the investigation.

A 24-year-old man from Stroud was arrested on Saturday, June 26, as part of the police enquiries.

He has been bailed to return to the police station on July 5.

Gloucestershire police Sergeant Simon Hale said he hoped the local community were reassured that this type of offence would be taken very seriously.

“We’re grateful to the local community for heeding our advice and reporting information,” he said.

“It emphasises how important it is for the police to have an effective two way flow of communication with the community.”

Appeals and advice from Gloucestershire Police can be found on their website, Facebook page and Twitter feed, @Glos_Police.
