Tetbury garage wins acclaim

A FAMILY-RUN garage in Tetbury has been named one of the best in the country.

Car Care Tetbury fought off 3,000 competitors to be named Independent Garage of the Year for the South West in a competition run by Motor Codes, a legislative body regulating garages.

Mike Hicks, who owns and runs the garage with his wife Amanda, said he was delighted to win the award.

“Officers from the RAC came round and made sure we were doing everything right and that we are not ripping people off, as well as checking we had good relationships with our customers,” he said.

He added he would especially like to thank long-serving mechanics Alan Bailey and Lee Wright for their part in achieving the accolade.

Mike added his father David had founded the garage in 1974, and he had been working there for the past 30 years.

“My son Harry hasn’t shown much interest yet, he’s more interested in computers – but he is only seven,” he added.
