Man arrested after canal stabbing

POLICE have arrested a man on suspicion of assault after a stab wound victim was found this morning.

The 49-year-old man was discovered on a canal footpath with a stab wound in his back near the A419 in Stroud at around 6.15am today, June 15.

He was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital where his injury is not believed to be life threatening.

Officers have arrested a 54-year-old man from Stroud on suspicion of assault in connection to the investigation.

Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to contact Gloucestershire Police on 101, quoting incident number 53 of June 15.
