Fire chief Steve Mills inquest set for December

A LONG-AWAITED inquest into the death of a fire chief at Cotswold Airport has been set for December.

Steve Mills, 45, fire services manager at the Kemble airfield, died on April 8 2011 following a suspected explosion related to a high-pressure cylinder.

A pre-inquest hearing was held at Gloucester Coroner’s Court on Wednesday June 30, where Gloucester assistant deputy coroner Tom Osborne said, due to the complexity of the case, the full inquest would be held with a jury.

He added the full inquest, which will begin on December 6 and is expected to last three days, would be carried out “fully, fairly and fearlessly”.
