Are you kneeling comfortably?

AN EXQUISITE exhibition of handcrafted kneelers completed fifty years ago will be on display this Jubilee weekend.

The collection, which features designs of animals and flowers, can be viewed at St Swithins church in Quenington, near Cirencester, from Saturday, June 2 to Tuesday, June 5 from 10am to 5pm.

The catalyst and designer was Enid Money with a helping hand from garden designer Dawn McLeod Wilson.

Embroider Isabel Eliott said: “As an embroiderer I never cease to be impressed by the amount of detail she achieved on what is actually a coarse canvas.”

Quenington's Fresh Air art show organiser Lucy Abel Smith said: “Some of the designs were worked straight from life as the snow drops, others were chosen by the workers. It is rare that one kneels on a puffin or a jackdaw.”
