Events unveiled for Cirencester Open Air Pool new season

CIRENCESTER Open Air Pool's new season kicks off this weekend with a host of new facilities and events.

The second oldest open air pool in the country in Cecily Hill opens on Saturday, May 26 from 9am to 5.45pm and will open daily until Sunday, September 9.

Since closing last season the team of volunteers have been organising repairs and maintenance to boundary walls, repairing the patio, updating the electric and plumbing, as well as looking into funding opportunities to improve the site. And this year also sees extended opening hours, hairdrying facilities and the return of pool hire for parties and the Friday Youth Evening.

This month volunteers were overjoyed to be awarded a £100 Co-Op supermarket voucher to spend on forthcoming celebrations to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee after judges were impressed with their community spirit.

The party will be staged around the outside of the pool for volunteers and supporters on a date to be confirmed.

Volunteer Lisa Dent, of Dyer Street, who applied for the pack, said: “The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee is the perfect excuse to bring our group together and this prize will really help make our celebrations even more memorable.
