Craft skills on display at Westonbirt Arboretum this weekend

VISITORS to Westonbirt Arboretum this bank holiday weekend will have the chance to see traditional woodland workers displaying their skills.

This year’s Silk Wood Spring Fair will be held from Saturday May 5 to Monday May 7 at the picnic area of the Downs, near Maples restaurant.

The fair is held by a group of professional coppice workers, who will display their skills handed down through generations, including clog making and saw milling.

Products offered for sale will include handmade wooden clogs, all produced with material from Westonbirt’s Silk Wood as well as other nearby woodlands.

Woodland management charity Plantlife will also be exhibiting at the fair.
